I’m the founder and owner of Star Method! Sports and MMA have been at the center of my life since I can remember. I grew up playing a variety of sports such as wrestling, boxing, track and field, baseball, football, soccer, and basketball just to name a few! Athleticism is one of the main purposes of Star Method Boxing and each workout takes a piece from these sports and applies them to every workout. More than the physical abilities I was trained on, it is the mental strength each one of these sports instilled in me which is the driving force behind Star Method Boxing and how the studio is different than any other studio out there.

I have a 6-2-0 mixed martial arts professional record, having competed with Showdown Fights, Titan FC and CBS Sports.
After growing up in Washington state and starting to box with my oldest brother Joseph, I pursued a career in mixed martial arts which led me to live in Utah along with my older brother Ramsey, who was a current contender for the UFC. I was surrounded by some of the best coaches in the world as well as some of the best fighters out there: as an aspiring young 18 year old I was training and living where the great Chuck Liddell did for so many years under John Hacklman at The Pit. This is when I knew that I was on the path of life I wanted to pursue.
A couple years into my fight career, Ramsey and I decided that a move to San Francisco could open up more possibilities and take us to the next level. San Francisco’s MMA scene is stacked with high profile fighters and training partners such as Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez, Nick and Nate Diaz and the rest of the crew known as "The Scrap Pack”. I had the privilege to train with all these amazing fighters; you either swim or drown with these pros but I found myself swimming with these sharks!

While preparing for the biggest fight of my life in Bellator MMA, I suffered multiple traumatic brain injuries and concussions only a few weeks away from the fight. For the next six months, I had to stop teaching boxing, reading, watching television and doing pretty much anything other than sit in a dark room and let my brain heal. During this life-altering time, I game planned on how I was going to be able to make a come back in my fighting career, bot in and outside of the cage. I made a few attempts to get back to training for a potential next fight but couldn't take anymore damage to the head without being hurt for weeks. This is when I ultimately made a decision that led to The Star Method coming to life.
With a little bit of money I made from fighting and teaching classes, I built out a home gym in my garage and started to attract clients to workout there. I outgrew this setup after a year and I knew it was time to open my very own private studio. Out of all the cities in the Bay Area where I had previously taught boxing, I knew Walnut Creek needed a boxing gym that was designed for everyday people that wanted to learn how to defend themselves properly and also get into the best physical and mental state of their lives. This is how Star Method Boxing studio started in 2017!
From that first 350 sqft space, moving up to a 1,200 sqft location and now at our current 2,000 sqft full training studio, my vision has come to life. Star Method Boxing is a thriving boutique training studio with trainers that all specialize and boxing and personal training!
The energy that is in Star Method Boxing is a breath of fresh air for this industry which is why the studio continues to grow. Here at Star Method Boxing we encourage positivity, strength, and happiness which we are all capable of achieving when surrounded by the right support system. Give us a try and see why Star Method Boxing is unlike any other program you've tried before!
